Halloumi, Spiced Fig Honey, Pine Nuts & Mint

Our halloumi recipe is an all-time favourite amongst our lovely Burnt Orange crowd. It combines the best of everything – sugar and spice and everything nice; drizzled, spiced honey is cut through by the fresh orange zest and mint all topped with toasted pine nuts which we hope culminates in an experience rather than a meal. A perfect side dish which will have your guests weak at the knees (we’d know…)

An arfully plated dish of halloumi and mint

Here’s how…

For the Honey.

  • 100g Honey
  •  Zest of 1 orange
  • 2 sprigs of thyme.
  • 50g water
  • 50g Dried Figs Sliced thinly

Method

For the honey, start by warming the water and honey together on a low heat. Next add your figs, orange zest & thyme and simmer for 10 minutes then leave to cool.

Toast your Pine nuts till golden then set aside for garnish along with some fresh mint leaves.

For the Halloumi, slice a block of Halloumi into 6 pieces then fry in a hot frying pan until golden brown on both sides and finish with a splash of lemon juice. To serve place your halloumi on a plate, including any lemon juice left in the pan, then drizzle with your infused honey & top with your mint & pine nuts! ENJOY IMMEDIATELY!
