Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo in Mexico, Spanish for “Fifth of May” is an annual celebration held on May 5, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

It’s quickly become one of our annual favourite days where all things Mexican are celebrated in abundance, we’ve chosen this year to celebrate one of our favourite spirits; Tequila!

To kick off the celebrations and get you in the mood our bar manager George (with some persuading) has agreed to share the secrets of our Blushed Paloma cocktail. For this cocktail we use Cazcabel Blanco Tequila which is fresh, smooth and well balanced with notes of earthy Agave & Citrus. It’s crisp, with touches of a black pepper finish.

The Blushed Paloma

The recipe…
Perfect for sunnier days sat in the garden, our Blushed Paloma has the right amount of sugar and spice and everything nice! We’d love to see you’re expert mixology in action so please tag us @burntorangeuk on instagram with your perfectly crafted cocktails!
Ingredients:
35ml Cazcabel Blanco Tequila
15ml Aperol
35ml Lime Juice
15ml Chilli Agave
Top with Ting

The Blushed Paloma cocktail is served in a highball glass and was  crafted by our expert team. To create the perfect serve, just add all ingredients (bar the ting) into a cocktail shaker, hard shake, then double strain over cubed ice, and top with the Ting. We’ve garnished our cocktail with a dried grapefruit alongside a salt and chilli glass rim; we feel it’s the perfect nod to Mexico, with it’s vibrant and punchy flavours, whilst still being extremely refreshing in sun.
